I did this on 10.11.5 (El Capitan) just now and it works perfectly. Re-start the map application and all the bogus data will be gone.
To receive these postcards, you will need to head back to the portal in Scarlet and Violet and connect to Pokemon Go, where the postcard will be received as a Mystery Gift. Go to /Library/Application Support/pokemon-go-map and delete pogom.db. Keep in mind that every card can be sent once. From your Postcard Book, select any card and then choose the option to send it to your Nintendo Switch. With the accounts linked, you can now send postcards to Scarlet and Violet from Pokemon Go. In the app, you will just need to go into the setting and connect your account to a Nintendo Switch. You will also need to pair from the Pokemon Go app as well.
